Maxim Kozhevnikov is back! And he has partnered up with Anastasia Grigorieva to do shows.
In the past, Max has taken on the Matrix, Charlie Chaplin and now his latest project, “Avatar”. The music, costuming and body movements are incredible and totally believable. If you remember, Avatar is the movie about a planet called Pandora, where an indigenous population lives – they are aliens, and referred to as Na’vis. These Na’vis are close to 10-feet-tall, they’re blue and they have tails. Do you think Max and Anastasia portrayed them well? WATCH THE VIDEO
These 2 Danish couples are awesome. In this show dance they embody all the characteristics of Cha Cha! Its flirty, cheeky and sharp. Also, you will notice that the choreography is not that complicated… Its mostly basics! Pure quality dancing. You may have heard of them, they are some of the best couples in the world. Their names are: Peter Stokkebroe and Kristina Stokkebroe AND Martino Zanibellato and Michelle Abildtrup. Enjoy!
The 2010 WSSDF Latin DVD is now out and of course in this day and age all the videos are on youtube as well. They are some of the world’s best International Latin style dancers. Below I feature my favorite dance by each couple. Although if I had to pick one, it would be Slavik and Anna’s Rumba. Let me know which dance you liked the most in the comments area. WATCH VIDEOS
Could a Pasodoble mixed with contemporary style look good? Watch this video to find out. This is Denys Drozdyuk’s audition video from the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance Canada”. What do you think?
For those who don’t know I am a big fan of the contemporary dance style. Season 7 of So You Think You Can Dance had just begun and already I had been blown away by an extraordinary young dancer, Teddy Tedholm! His ability to convey emotion in his dancing is “genius” as Mia Michaels noted. And he’s only 18 freaking years old! I wish I was that mature back then… I hope he will make it to the top 10! Nevertheless, his audition performance was just brilliant. WATCH THE AUDITION VIDEO:
I thought I would share a little bit of my own dancing with you in this post. This is an International Latin Rumba dance show that Kim and I did on March 20, 2010.
This year’s Salsa congress was very entertaining indeed. The main theme running through this year’s jack and Jill contest, was taking off shirts! Last year it was talking on cell phones while dancing. In the Jack and Jill contest, where the couples are matched up randomly, there were a few couples that stood out the most. Here are 2 of my favorite Salsa videos.
Ever since Max Kozhevnikov had stopped dancing competitively, he has been performing shows all around the world with the lovely Beata. I must say that their shows are extraordinary! They are not the usual Latin and Ballroom shows that mainly run through their competitive dance routines. Instead, their shows are filled with many genres of dance mixed together and lots of acting. In a way, Max and Beata are revolutionizing the way dance shows are performed…WATCH BOTH VIDEOS
The World Super Stars Latin Dance Festival is a yearly event held in Japan that hosts the best dance couples in the world. All the couples do about 5 solo show dances. This year was particularly amazing in the quality of shows. Perhaps, aside from the only new partnership of Slavik and Anna (who were still quite amazing for being so new), all the couples seemed to have gelled together really well.
This year’s line up included:
1. Michael Malitowski and Joanna Leunis 2. Riccardo Cocchi and and Yulia Zagoroutchenko
3. Slavik kryklyvyy Anna Melnikova
4. Sergey Surkov and Melia
5. Franco Formica & Oxana Lebedew
6. Maxim Kozhevnikov & Beata
Here are some of my favorite dance performances from the 2009 Latin World Stars Dance Festival:
This dance video should remind everyone why they started dancing in the first place– to have fun! Danny (No, I don’t personally know him) and his partner are having so much fun together that it seems as though they are about to crack up at any given second. In addition, their dancing here is pure lead and follow. Notice how they are not thinking about anything, they are FEELING each others’ movement and interpreting the music. This is the way dancing was always meant to be. I challenge you to go out dancing next time and have as much fun as these two. Enjoy!
Slavik Kryklyvyy is, without a doubt, one of the best male dancers on this planet. He had just recently teamed up with Anna Melnikova (who used to dance with Stefano Di Filippo). This is the first video made public of their Rumba show dance. The song is called “I Finally Found Someone” by Bryan Adams & Barbara Streisand, and I think it makes a lot of people wonder whether Slavik has really finally found the one?CONTINUE READING & WATCH VIDEO
