Today we are covering a common mistake that many of the followers make. This has to do with the very popular position: The promenade, which is used in many of the Smooth and Standard dances like: Waltz dance, Foxtrot dance and Tango dance.
Leave a comment below and let us know if this happens to you? And how you fixed this.
Hello. My name is Leon and this is Kim and we’re from Passion4Dancing and right now we’re going to give you a quick technique tip and this one is specifically for the ladies and that is ladies, you don’t want to turn to promenade position on your own. You only want to do it when your partner leads you. Yeah? So this is a common thing that happens sometimes especially when the ladies learn the promenade position.
So the promenade position is when both partners look in the same direction. OK? It’s this one right here which exists in all of the different dances like foxtrot, tango and waltz, right? So normally on our regular hold for those dances, if we’re going to demonstrate waltz, is both partners look to the left.
So when we dance, we should be looking to our left and the ladies, you don’t want to turn your head to the right on your own. So Kim is going to demonstrate in the wrong way right now. See right now, she just kind of turned to promenade on her own without me leading it. Yeah?
So that’s something you want to avoid, ladies. Yes? So you want to stay to the man’s – you want to stretch to your left and stay to the man’s right arm constantly so that you can feel when he wants to turn you into promenade position. Unless he turns you, you don’t want to do it. Yes?
So ladies, don’t do it on your own. OK? So now I’m going to lead her. So this is a twinkle step, which is a very popular step that we covered and you come back to left. You see right now Kim again came back to her left position and just stay there until I lead again which is right now. Yes? And then you want to come back to the left right away ladies but you don’t want to just kind of do it on your own.
Sometimes I see ladies just kind of involuntarily doing this because they think they need to face promenade or they’re anticipating something. But it really is up to the guy to lead it correctly. So if he doesn’t lead you well, don’t do it. OK? You can blame him. Yeah. So that’s the tip for today. Thank you for joining us and please like and share this video.
